Lord Byron, the Romantic poet, calls solitude the place where we are least alone. And this can certainly be true if your thoughts are alive and vibrant, which most of ours certainly are. But solitude, by its nature, seems antithetical to the concept of leadership as we have examined it. Think about this juxtaposition, using the commencement speech, Solitude and Leadership. What can you make of the need for solitude in light of the project you have just done? How can solitude contribute to your continued success as a scholar and academic leader?
